Happy One Week Elijah!!!

It is impossible for me to believe that Elijah came to us one week ago today. Sometimes it feels very far away, but at other times, I feel as though it has just happened. I still feel so blessed to have a little son. He is truly special...I know everyone says that about their babies, but really, he is! He is already on somewhat of a schedule, eating for an hour then sleeping for 3. He must just know how much his mommy LOVES schedules and LOVES knowing what to expect. He is such a good son:)
I feel so much better today. I am able to get off the couch all by myself! It is easier for me to get around. I even did some laundry today! I have been feeling a little stir crazy, though. I haven't left the house for one week now, and although I love the farm, I am looking forward to getting out into the real world again! Plus, I just want to show off the little guy. He is so handsome! Thankfully, I have had a few visitors, and that has been really fun. And now, for some pictures. I know that's what y'all really want:)

The first to visit was Grandma-in-law Carole (Nathan's mom). She was passing through on her way to Athens and wanted to see Elijah before we head off to Seattle and Africa. It was great to visit with her, and of course for her to meet Eli.

My friend Rebecca was the second to visit. We have known each other since high school and love catching up each time I roll into town. Elijah stole her heart as he cuddled with her for an hour.

Casey and Liza came over last night to meet Elijah. We have been friends since high school. I am the first of the clan to have a baby. Casey lives here in Franklin and Liza was in town from D.C. It was so much fun to visit with them and have them meet our little guy!

Apparently, Elijah has a little secret (maybe Danger should have been his middle name)....or he was on his way to picking his nose. He's so smart already! See, I told you he is special! Doesn't he look like a little pea in that hat? It was a handmade gift...so cute!
This is me after my first bath. See any resemblance?

These are a few more pictures of me when I was a baby... he is definitely a mix between Dan and I, but these pictures really show how much he looks like me.

Sleeping pictures...so cute!

Elijah cuddling with his ugly doll, Jeero. P.S. He LOVES his blanket Sarah!

Eli enjoying his milk buzz.
Eli and I had a little nap this morning together on the couch. I LOVE cuddling him! He is so soft!

Daddy is already brain washing Eli to be a Seattle Mariners fan. Poor boy...we hope he likes sports, because I plan to brain wash him to also be a Predators fan, a Notre Dame fan, a Titans fan, and a Red Wings fan (by the way...they won the Stanley Cup last night!!!!! No surprise there).
This is just a silly picture to capture that the saying is true: Like father, like son!

Daddy and Eli having a special cuddle together after changing his diaper. Elijah hates to have his diaper changed, and really needs a cuddle afterwards to make up with us. Luckily, it is truly the only time he cries! Otherwise, he is a happy boy.

We got a baby sling from craigslist yesterday! I was so excited, because I really wanted one, but they are SUPER expensive! It's a really cool dark green organic cotton sling. Even daddy looks good in it!Elijah had his second bath today with Grandmarmie. I think he really enjoyed being in the tub.

Alright, that's all for now. Thank you for continuing to pray for our little family as I heal and we all work hard to get adjusted to this new way of life.

Hooray for Ugly Dolls and brainwashing! You guys can help us by letting Spud know that it's ok to like sports... and I'll help you by letting Eli know that it's ok to like mushrooms (although, I know Dan's on board with that)... and stingy soda! :) Fortunately for them both, I think they'll each naturally develop appreciation for the arts. Rib and I are also excited about teaching Spud all sorts of big words whether he really knows what they mean or not just because (I'm sorry, but...) it's just so funny to hear kids try to use big words! So, we can do that to Eli too if you'd like :)

Hi Bethany! I'm so glad to hear that Eli is eating well and sleeping well. He will become a faster eater as he gets older - you can look forward to that. =) Also, be forewarned that just as soon as you figure him and your schedule out, it will all change. As he grows, so will his patterns/routines. Just know it's coming. You'll start to feel so good and on top of things, and then he will change it all. But, you can confidently know that you'll figure it out since you figured it out last time...it's just a little bewildering at first.

If you are itching to get out of the house, I'd do it! I think it's good for you. I keep a boppy in the car that fits in the stroller bakset, so I can feed Caitlin well wherever. Find a mall with a good women's lounge for comfy feeding. My mom and I went shopping with Caitlin when she was only a week old. I pretty much kept her covered the whole time and people didn't get to touch her or anything. We visited the women's lounge a couple times and shopped in between. After being on bedrest for the last couple weeks before she was born, I was going absolutely stir crazy.

I can't wait to see you and meet Eli!

Dan, you'd better not let Beth brainwash Elijah into being a Titans fan. GO HAWKS! -Paul

Yay for a week! You guys are all so adorable. I especially enjoyed the socks and the pic of Beth & Eli cuddling. And the one of Dan & the sling. And conked out after eating. Okay, I loved them all! -Lynnette
