We've all heard "it takes a village to raise a child". I really believe that it does! I don't think that the saying is implying that a mother and a father cannot handle the responsibility on their own. I do think that it is referring to the fact that children grow from being in an environment where tons of people are caring for them and loving them. These past few weeks have been a picture of this. With the Green lake team here from Seattle, Elijah has loved being held by so many people. When we went to the village, I loved seeing him get passed around to all of our friends there. Malawians especially just love to talk to Eli. If he is not with me, people will ask "Where is my nephew/brother/son/grandson???" It's as if he is their family, and they all treat him as such. There is just something very special about people truly loving on your kid.
