ABC Super Saturday!

Today was Super Saturday. It's basically field day for the college students and all the staff at ABC. We had a great time cheering on the students and participating. Eli had fun being passed around from student to student. I would often give him to one person then not see him for 20 minutes only to have a totally different person bring him back to me. We all know he loves the attention.

The students are so enthusiastic. You couldn't possibly give an award to the team with most school spirit, because they were all cheering, dancing and even drumming with spirit. Africans really know how to have fun. Here are the sophomores doing a dance while chanting.

Our friends Bob and Amy practice for the 3 legged race. Sadly, they were a lot better during their practice run than the real race.

Here they are on the trip back toward the finish line. I think they were almost last. Amy did do well on the backwards race though, which looked very challenging and dangerous!

Then there's the classic "Run with a bucket of water on your head" relay race.

There were two buckets that seemed to have the same amount of water in them. The judges had to bring out the ruler.

Our good friend Owen did the high jump. He was amazing!!!

Christina did the long jump!

The best part of the afternoon was watching the men from the ABC staff team beat the college guys at tug of war. Dan said that right after the whistle blew, Paul Chinchen yelled out to them "we haven't lost in 18 years!". I guess that was motivation enough. Dan is in there. You can see his blue hat behind Andy. The ABC staff team lost (not a huge surprise) but this was a proud moment.

We ended the afternoon with dinner on the field and smores around a huge fire. It was fun but we are worn out. I am looking forward to resting tomorrow.
