Last night in Paris

Waiting to get into the Musee D'Orsay

The view from the roof top terrace at the Musee D'Orsay (notice the church in the top L corner: that is the Sacre Coeur, which we visited later that afternoon. Also notice the ferris wheel. That is the one we rode after our museum visit.)

Today was busy just like the others. We walked our feet off! We began with breakfast and a walk to the Musee D'Orsay. After waiting in the queue for an hour, we entered the museum and headed straight for the fifth floor. We enjoyed seeing all the impressionist paintings. Dan especially enjoyed the art nouveau furniture. Plus, the building itself is beautiful.

We stopped for a quick bite to eat and a ride on a ferris wheel right beside the Louvre. It was a nice time of relaxation as well as a great opportunity to get a view of the city.

We then took the metro up the hill to the Sacre Coeur. After climbing a hundred stairs (at least it felt like it!) to the church, we saw the view and understood that it was worth it. Looking toward the church and you will be overwhelmed by the architecture. Looking away from the church and you will be overwhelmed by the view of Paris. We walked inside and a rush of hot muggy air hit our faces. There were three French nuns singing and reading scripture, and one of them was playing a harp on her lap. The interior was breathtaking. There were so many details and separate chambers throughout the main sanctuary.

We actually stopped into three churches today, and were floored by each one of them. Dan and I imagined what it would be like to worship every Sunday in such a beautiful place. We missed not worshiping last Sunday (we were traveling) and look forward to worshiping with the church in Africa this Sunday.

We leave tomorrow evening around 7pm local time(9 or 10am Seattle time). Please be praying for traveling mercies. We might run into a few problems with luggage so just pray that the Lord will provide gracious assistants at Kenyan Airlines. We are scheduled to arrive in Lilongwe around 9am local time on Thursday. It might be a while before we get set up in Lilongwe but I hope to update y'all as soon as possible.

I can't believe our time in Paris is almost over, and now we are really on our way to Lilongwe!
