Welcome to the ABC Zoo and Dan rode his bike to the lake!!!!

I want to welcome you to the ABC Zoo (Bob and Amy's house). They have a dog (not too strange), a chameleon, a turtle, a tarantula, and now a deer. Yes, a baby deer. That is the newest addition.

So, Dan is part of a biking group here in Lilongwe. The group usually rides on Tuesday and Thursday mornings (4:30am-6am). Well, on Saturday, they left at 4:30am and rode to Lake Malawi (about a 2 hour drive away). It was an 80 mile ride, up and down hill. One of the other bikers has a son in my class, so I drove with his family to meet the team at the lake around 10am. They actually beat us there! They arrived around 9:30am.
Here they are putting the bikes onto the trailer for the ride home (in the car).

Anyways, I was really proud of them. I can't believe they all rode that long, and there are some uncomfortably long hills on the way. Apparently, on the way to the Lake, the leader of the bike group bought a little deer off the side of the road. It's so little and cute and looks just like Bambi. So, when Bob (they were at the Lake that day too) saw the deer, I guess he just couldn't resist and bought it off the other guy. Anyways, we were supposed to ride back with Bob, Amy and the girls, but now we had to have this deer in the car, too.

Here is a cute picture of Analise with our friend Andy and the deer. notice Analise's shirt...so cute!

Here is Nya trying to hold the deer on her lap. It stayed on her lap for half of the trip, but then it got antsy, so Amy put it down by her feet. It was so funny!

So, just to let you all know, Dan and I will be out of town until Friday evening. We (plus Megan) are spending a week in Matapila (a village about an hour away) with Ministry of Hope. We will be helping with their orphan feeding program. As well, we hope to spend some time with the older kids discussing topics like AIDS, abstinence, success and education. We also hope to meet with some local teachers in the village and discuss teaching tactics and what not. It will be a wonderful but tiring and stretching week, so please be praying for us three. As well, it is rainy season, so it will be very very very muddy and bugs galore, so please pray for that. We packed most of our own food, so we should be okay with that. Just pray that we stay healthy and that we can be a help to the volunteers that already work in the centers. Pray that we will be an encouragement as well as be encouraged by the community in Matapila.

Do not expect any blog posts. I will have a HUGE one, I'm sure, when we get back. Please, just pray pray pray. Thanks!
