Elijah has been rolling from his belly to his back much more, and has relentlessly tried rolling back onto his belly, with no luck. Sometimes, he gets stuck on his side and then will just lay there and play with his hands. It's so funny and cute!
A couple of weeks ago, we had an upper school bon fire party at the school. It was for grades 9-12. It was really fun hanging out with our students outside of the classroom. We played really funny games and then roasted hot dogs and marsh mellows over the fire. It was funny because about 1/3 of the students had never made smores or roasted marsh mellows before! I also learned that night that only about 1/3 of my students have seen snow. The rest of them have only seen it on tv. Both of those things surprised me, although I'm not sure why....I guess I should have expected that.
The Stauffachers and their girls came to join us which was fun. Nya is on the right holding her arm over her face:)
The blond guy standing up is Andy, another upper school teacher. He is our neighbor, and a good one at that! We can always hear him laughing nextdoor to something he is listening to or watching...he is a happy guy.
Last Friday was reading day at the Academy. The entire day is dedicated to reading. The whole school gets to dress up as a book character. The kids love it! Well, after much deliberation, Eli and I decided to go as Snow White and Dopey (one of the seven dwarfs...the only one without a beard). I quickly threw together a make shift costume, threw a hat on Eli and we were out the door for French class, which he helped me teach that day. The students loved holding him while we did review games for the shortened class.
Sorry the picture is off...I set it up and didn't have time to try for a better one. I thought Eli made a good Dopey.
CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?????
I don't know if this is a blue or grey heron but it was blueish-grey and BIG! I saw it swooping down and land in our yard. Pretty strange.
We have been killing these big cockroaches a lot lately. The other day, I killed one twice this size in our bathroom.
It will be nice to have a small change of seasons. Dan and I struggle with missing autumn. It is my favorite time of year. I love bringing out my scarves and jackets and walking in the city when it's windy. Walking amongst colorful trees on a windy day with a chai in hand...a perfect moment. On the other hand, we are beginning to realize that our time in Africa is going by so fast! I cannot believe it is already October! I just pray that Dan and I would continue to be useful here, serving when and where we can. I know that a year from now, we will be missing this time we have had here in Malawi. I am practicing the art of contentness, resting in where God has me this moment, today. With or without macaroni and cheese:)

Just letting you know that I always enjoy the pictures of the baby. He's got to be the cutest thing happening in Malawi! Andy says he is a happy baby, too. And, Thanks for the picture and words about My boy! He would get in trouble at school because he would see the funny in something and with his belly laugh have the whole class going! Praying for you all.
