Busy weekend with coughs all around

Well, as Dan finally got over his cough, Elijah and I have begun our turn with the cough, yay! I began feeling bad last Friday, but it's been on and off. This morning, I woke up with a full blown sore throat and headache. Elijah has been coughing here and there, too but it hasn't turned into anything too bad, yet. Last night, we were both up and couldn't sleep because of our coughs. At least we were able to keep each other company :) Oh well, it kind of helps it to feel like the cold wintery Christmas season when we are cuddled at home sick.

Despite the coughing, we had an eventful weekend. Friday night, the ABC college held an evening of music at the chapel. It was wonderful. Elijah did well, but we did have to leave before it ended, which meant we missed the jazz band! We did get to hear the choir though, which was beautiful! But, it was so fun to see the students in their musical element and fun to support our friends who were involved. Elijah sat front row and center with our friend Amber McDonald (her dad teaches at the college and even played in the bands!).

Watching them play made me wish I had my trumpet here. I would love to pick it up again and play!

On Saturday, there was a big school swim meet. Instead of the swim team competing, it was the entire school! The Academy has been broken up into three teams, the different national parks of Malawi. Our team is Majete. We got the trophy for most spirit!!!

Dan was a time keeper which kept him busy the entire day (8am-2pm!). He is the one in the straw hat.

The upper school students had no problem watching Eli while I took pictures. When he came back to me, he was all blue from the Liwonde team. They were decked out in blue face paint.

This was the score when I left. Sadly, I found out later that Majete lost to Nyka. Oh well, like I said, we did get the trophy for most spirit which I think is more important anyways :)
On Sunday, we all slept in in hopes to get rid of this cough. We had no such luck. Oh well. It was a fun weekend anyway. So, while my sister enjoys a snowy weekend, we enjoyed a sunny weekend complete with sunburns. Dan worked on his watch tan! Actually, he did apply sun screen 3 times and still got burned!

We are really missing you all this season and are also missing the snow and cold weather we know you are all enjoying there in the states. Thankfully, it's been a rainy/cloudy past few days, so we are thankful for that! Please pray for us as we are missing home. It is easy to feel left out of all the holiday fun. I often feel torn between all of our various homes. We need to focus on our work here and be thankful for all that the Lord has given to us, especially His son! Our hearts will always be divided until He returns, so I am praying that He comes quickly.
