The Malawian government has stood up to one of pop music's biggest stars. Today in court, Madonna's application for a second adoption was denied because of residency issues. Read the rest of the article HERE. I have to say, I am proud of Malawi right now.
In other news concerning Malawi, Eli and I saw a presidential candidate today, literally bumped into him at the grocery store. There weren't any body guards and he was carrying his own groceries! I had never heard of him and had to ask a cashier who he was. I visited his web site and I have to say, his moto looks a little familiar! Visit Jame Nyondo's website to see what I am referring to.
Elections are coming up in May. I have seen a few stickers. My favorite reads "Be proud of Malawi, Peaceful Elections, YES WE CAN!" Again, sounds familiar...people here just love Obama!

Thanks for being our eyes and ears and helping us to know what's really going on. I feel exactly as you do, that Madonna is just throwing her weight around.
I don't know that I can say that it should be a law for everyone to adopt--that's kinda like saying that every family should have a dog because there are so many out there that need homes (I know, it'a a bad example). My point is that it's a big deal to consider adoption and yes, all christians should pray about how to use their resources to care for the orphans and widows of this world, but that adoption may not be for every family. I am not saying we never will and do know that if it were for us, that we would follow the Lord's lead for our family there.
That said, I am thinking more and more about our money and resources and have felt convicted on what we buy and feel is important so thanks for posting those reminders! I do want to support MOH and I think Nathan and I are going to figure out how to do that soon!
Love you sis!
