On Friday night, the Academy had their performing arts rehearsal. The Academy band played while the three different ballet classes danced in between songs. (sorry for the fuzzy pictures-our camera is on it's last leg...)
After the performances, we all headed to the Chinchen's for our Friday night pot luck dinner. Eli was inspired by the music and wanted to play the piano. He's with our neighbor and one of the dancers, Amber.
This is the first year that the Academy has had any "arts" related after school activities for the kids. It has been really cool to see them get excited about music and dancing. Another first for the Academy took place yesterday afternoon. It was the Academy's first graduation! ABC is still working on expanding the Academy which includes a High School, but for now, 10th-12th graders do an online program in the computer room called North Star. There are probably about 15 kids in this program and they become pretty close throughout the year. Although the graduating class was very small (four people, one of whom couldn't make it), it was a wonderful time of encouraging and celebrating the graduating boys. Each of the boys gave a small speech.

Then, they were honored with a funny skit put on by the other North Star students. It was pretty great to see their peers act like them in the skit. We all had a good laugh.
Eli and papa watch as the proud graduates leave the building and head towards the refreshments that followed the ceremony.
