Celebrating Eli's 1st

Since attending Flood church (more on that in another post), we have been participating in the Flood Family dinners. Basically, it is a great way to get to know one specific group from the church more intimately. My friend Emily has hosted two so far and the second one was this afternoon. We had a braii (bar-b-que) in the back yard and just enjoyed the nice weather. Our friends the Tacheny's brought a game to play called Washoe. It's very similar to horse shoes except you use washers to throw into holes for points. It got pretty competative at times!

Eli and Owen, chilling out on the back khonde.

Eli's friend Gabriel was there. Gabe is our pastor Sean's son and is about 4 months older than Eli.
Since we've been so busy this weekend, we decided to celebrate Eli's birthday at the braii. I made a great carrot cake (recipe found here), my first ever. Sadly, I couldn't make the cream cheese frosting because it was $20 for cream cheese at Shoprite!!! It still was very delicious.

Eli really did try to blow out the candle!
Eli is a very careful eater. He never got that messy.
Shoving it in...

...and in...

...and in.

We had a great time together. Now, we are trying to rest before the ABC college Baccalaureate.
