So, last Thursday (Thanksgiving Day, we celebrated International Day (which is a Holiday here, and we actually got Friday off from school). It is a day where the kids are encouraged to wear traditional clothing, according to their nationality. All of my kids dressed up and they looked so cute!
It is also a fun day because all the moms bring in different foods, and the entire hallway of the front office is filled with food. Reception got to go first, but since it was such a stressful time getting the kids through the line, I barely had time to check out the options. Actually, I saw a big dish of Kraft macaroni and cheese which some crazy mom brought, and I helped myself!!! Actually, it must have been an Embassy mom, because who else who waste that much Mac & Cheese on International Day? It must have been 5 or 6 boxes!!!
Anyways, it was a fun/stressful day, and we got out early, so that was good. Saturday was a chill day. We barely had energy to do anything at all because it was so incredibly hot!!! In the evening, Dan and I were watching a movie, and I thought I saw something dark swoop through the air. I wasn't sure if it was real or not, so I looked to Dan to see if he had a reaction. Of course, he had that "Whoa, did you see that???" look on his face, and I knew it was real, but we weren't sure as to what the thing was. Then, it began swooping more and more, underneath our net (it was tied up still) and came so close to us. We suddenly realized, it was a bat! How it got in, we have NO idea!!! None of our screens have holes, and all of our doors were closed. Who knows how long this animal has been living with us, without us noticing! Of course, both Dan and I were grossed out and freaked out. Dan got it to fly out of our bedroom, and after shutting the door, he went after it in our living room with the lid to our laundry basket (which he was calling his shield). I could hear him yelling at it, and swatting at it. I got the nerve to come out, after Dan had hit the bat, and it fell to the floor, sliding towards the door. He left his "shield" on it, and I figured out something better to put it in. We wanted to keep it to give it to our friend Bob, who runs the local zoo here on campus (he has a chameleon!), but it turned out that Dan's strength was too much for the bat. He didn't make it, thankfully.
Well, it seems as though my pictures are not loading, so I will include them later. Thanks for reading!
