It was a long day of teaching, but fun. Dan stopped by to teach my class how to say "Merry Christmas" in Greek. Reception 2 is responsible for learning "Merry Christmas" in both German and Greek. This is for our Christmas Program which is coming up at the end of next week. Anyways, the kids always love it when Mr. Robbins comes down to see them. Of course, Dan is so great with the kids! Here he is leading them in a little song to help them remember how to say "Kala Christouyena".
Earlier that day, I had finally gotten a hold of some Christmas music, so that was the day we would decorate our Christmas tree which I had just put up in my room. As you can imagine, the kids were very excited about decorating the tree, so I was glad we were finally able to do it! We cut out ornaments from our craft book and glittered them all up. By the end, we all had glitter everywhere, and the girls especially liked it:) It was a tiring project for me, but it always seems to go that way. The things that the kids love the most are the things that wear me out the most!
So, here is our tree being decorated by Nathan, Wongani, Malaika and Louisa. Each kid had 3 ornaments to put on the tree. I began taking off the ornaments from the lower level of the tree, and putting them up on the top. That way, each kid could have the full decoration experience!
Now, the second part of the day consisted of driving to the airport, seeing dad, meeting the other 6 men on the team and following them back to Lilongwe. We stopped by the Shoprite center to pick up water and exchange money. Finally, we got to their hotel and had Christmas in dad's hotel room. It was a very merry time!!! We "opened" our presents and had a great time. Some of the items were clothes that I had purchased online. Basically, big shirts and maternity pants. My regular clothes are getting a little uncomfortable, and it won't be long before I grow completely out of them. Besides the clothes, we got slippers, Christmas candles and other decorations (thanks mom!), movies, magazines (thanks Sally!), and more Mac&Cheese!!!! (well, just the cheese packets). Mom also sent me a great pregnancy book about nutrition, and many other herbal supplements, teas and Belly Bars. Needless to say, we feel very blessed this Christmas, that my dad could come and also that he could bring so many gifts. With his white little beard, he sure did resemble Santa! We called him Kenny Clause. I hope you enjoy the below pictures.
